Host Maestro Fresh Wes makes history: first-ever hip-hop artist inducted into Canadian Music Hall of Fame at the 2024 JUNO Awards, set to receive Governor General Arts Award as first rap artist on June 8
CBC today unveiled the 10 top-tier sand sculpting teams set to compete in the fourth season of RACE AGAINST THE TIDE (10X30), premiering Sunday, April 28 with weekly back-to-back episodes on CBC Gem as of 9 a.m. ET and at 7 p.m. (7:30 NT) on CBC TV.
Season 4 of RACE AGAINST THE TIDE returns to the original format, bringing 10 of the world’s best sand sculpting teams to the scenic shores of New Brunswick’s Bay of Fundy. There, they face off in the most demanding outdoor art competition imaginable, battling not only each other but also the unpredictable forces of Mother Nature. Each week, the teams will have just six hours to create extraordinary works of art made entirely from sand, before the world’s highest tide rips them back out to sea. Ultimately, only one team will emerge victorious, claiming the $10,000 grand prize and the coveted title of Race Against the Tide champions.
Hosted by Canadian music icon, Maestro Fresh Wes, this gripping 10-episode competition series delves deep into the fascinating world of professional sand sculpting, shining a spotlight on the incredible artists who dedicate their lives to the world’s most physically challenging art form. Expert judges, five-time World Champion Karen Fralich and Master Sculptor Rusty Croft will decide which teams live to carve another day and take on the unstoppable tide.
Recently, Maestro Fresh Wes made history at the 2024 JUNO Awards as the first-ever hip-hop artist inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Additionally, on June 8, he will join this year’s Governor General arts award recipients, marking a groundbreaking achievement as the first rap artist to receive this honour.
