Barnes & Noble Opens New Store in Concord

Barnes & Noble is thrilled to announce the opening of its new Concord bookstore on Wednesday, April 17^th. The new Barnes & Noble is located in the Pavilion at King’s Grant shopping center (8062 Concord Mills Blvd, Concord, NC 28027) in the space formerly occupied by Buy Buy Baby, between Michael’s and Ross Dress for Less.

The bookstore will officially open to the public at 9AM EDT on Wednesday the 17^th. A short distance from the NASCAR Charlotte Motor Speedway and zMAX Dragway, the new store will see former race car driver Kyle Petty hosting the ribbon cutting at the grand opening and signing copies of his book Swerve Or Die. The new shop showcases the highly lauded bookstore design seen in the most recent Barnes & Noble store openings, housing all the best books, toys, games and gifts that customers have come to expect from the nation’s premier bookseller. The bookstore will also feature an updated B&N Café.

“When Bed Bath & Beyond closed, we had the good fortune to be able to convert a number of their stores across the country to become new bookstores, including this former Buy Buy Baby,” said James Daunt, CEO, Barnes & Noble. “We are very pleased to open such a stunning and expansive new Barnes & Noble here, complete with a B&N Café.”

Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing exceptionally strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after more than 15 years of declining store numbers. In 2023, Barnes & Noble opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decade from 2009 to 2019. The bookseller expects to open over 50 new bookstores in 2024.

The Concord Barnes & Noble is one of four new Barnes & Noble bookstores to open in April alongside new locations in New Orleans, LA; Dubuque, IA; and Dawsonville, GA. Each grand opening has drawn enthusiastic crowds that wrap around the building, filling the store as the ribbon is cut.
